Add up your team's hours for payroll
Type each person's clock-in and clock-out times. Hours, overtime and pay update as you go, and everything is saved in this browser for next week.
Pay period, time format and overtime settings
Overtime is only counted when you set a threshold above. Use the rules that apply to your workplace; this calculator doesn't apply any law for you. With a 2-week pay period, each week's overtime is worked out separately.
| Day | In | Out | Unpaid break min | Hours |
|---|
Type times like 9, 830 or 5:30p. If a shift reads wrong, add a or p. Night shifts that end after midnight work too.

How the calculator works
How do I add up a time card with a lunch break?
Enter the clock-in and clock-out time for the day, then type the unpaid lunch or break length in minutes (for example 30), or as hours and minutes (0:45). The break is subtracted from the time between clock-in and clock-out. A shift from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch is 8 hours.
How do I convert hours and minutes to decimal hours for payroll?
Divide the minutes by 60 and add them to the hours. 8 hours 15 minutes is 8 + 15 ÷ 60 = 8.25 hours. The calculator shows both formats: h:mm on each day and decimal hours in the totals and the CSV download, which most payroll systems accept.
| Minutes | Decimal |
|---|---|
| 15 | 0.25 |
| 20 | 0.33 |
| 30 | 0.50 |
| 40 | 0.67 |
| 45 | 0.75 |
Can I calculate a night shift that ends after midnight?
Yes. Enter the times as they appear on the time card, such as 10p in and 6a out. The calculator counts it as one 8-hour shift on the day it started.
What if I type a time without AM or PM?
The calculator picks the reading that gives the shortest shift, so 9 to 5 becomes 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The times it used are shown next to each day's hours. If one looks wrong, add a or p, or switch to 24-hour entry in the settings.
How does overtime work here?
Overtime is off until you set it. Under settings you can choose a daily threshold, a weekly threshold and a pay multiplier to match your workplace's rules. Daily overtime is counted first, then any remaining hours over the weekly threshold, so no hour is counted twice. With a 2-week pay period, each week is checked on its own.
Can I use it for my whole team every week?
Yes. Add each employee once with their hourly rate. Next week, open the page on the same device and browser, move to the new week, and use “Copy last period's schedule” if shifts repeat. Download the CSV or print the summary for payroll.
